Promoting respect and care for nature, through “green†tourism in Fort Dauphin and its region.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Successful conversion of an abandoned botanical station into a tourist attraction, which created 15 jobs. In the near future, the managers plan to do more vegetable farming to feed the the restaurant's guests, and sell the essential oils produced on the reserve (Camphor, Niaouli), as well as lychees and mangos. This Reserve is not fenced, and people of the nearby village use it and some of its renewable resources, within the limits of the vocation of the site.

Meet Olivia Niaina and the team at ESF, your local connection in Madagascar. We operate from our central office in the Malagasy capital of Antananarivo, and take great pride in sharing our country with you. We aim to let you experience the warm hospitality of the people and the unique and endemic flora and fauna of Madagascar. However, we also encourage people to examine the social and environmental issues facing our country, to ensure Madagascar is here for their children and grandchildren to enjoy as well.
